Hypothyroidism or underactive thyroid is a condition in which the thyroid glands do not produce enough of the thyroid hormone. Women above 60 years are more likely to suffer from this health condition.

Causes:

  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Thyroid surgery
  • Radiation therapy
  • Medication

Symptoms:

  • Fatigue
  • Weak muscles
  • Pain or swelling in joints
  • Thinning of hair
  • Weight gain
  • Depression
  • Constipation
  • Slow heart rate
