dysmenorrhoea

Also known as painful periods or menstrual cramps, dysmenorrhoea is pain during periods. The symptoms mostly last for at least 3 days in adults as well as young girls. It is one of the most common complaints in young and adult women.
Causes:

  • Fibroids
  • A sexually transmitted infection
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
  • An ovarian cyst or tumour

Symptoms:

  • Pain in the lower abdomen during menstruation
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Light-headedness
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
