
Tonsils are the two lymph nodes located on each side of the back of your throat. Inflammation of tonsils is called tonsillitis. Pharyngitis is inflammation of the pharynx – in the back of the throat. It is commonly known as sore throat. More cases of pharyngitis are reported during winter.
Causes:
- Bacterial or viral infections
- Adenoviruses
- Influenza virus
- Herpes simplex virus
Symptoms:
- Loss of appetite
- Bad breath
- Ear pain
- Sore throat
- Difficulty in swallowing
- Fever
- Chills
- Tonsils appear red and swollen
