4-things-to-know-about-testing-your-ph-levels

Your blood pH level plays a vital role in your overall health. In case your blood pH level is acidic, your cells cannot function properly. When the pH of the body fluids (blood, saliva and urine) goes down, acidosis sets in. An acidic pH promotes disease states in the body.

Simple saliva and urine test

In order to check your pH levels, one can undertake a simple saliva and a urine test. Test your saliva on an empty stomach and one hour after meals.

Average pH values

The average pH values of our urine and saliva are 6.8 to 7.4.

How to conduct saliva test

Purchase a pH paper at any drugstore and test your saliva by spitting into a bowl. Dip the pH strip in it and check the colouring after a minute.

How to interpret the reading

A reading of 4.5 to 6.0 indicates acidosis and is likely to promote disease conditions in the body. A reading of 6.0 to 6.8 is less likely to give rise to disease conditions. Values between 7.0 and 7.5 are considered healthy. Acidosis occurs when the body loses its alkaline reserves.

Acidosis can be managed effectively through proper nutritional planning.
