Home Remedies for Heartburn

Heartburn is very common and unpleasant inconvenience faced by most of us. It is triggered when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus. It can make you feel as though someone has lit a small bonfire in your chest, and it’s burning its way up to your neck.

Here are 14 home remedies for heartburn:

Water

 It is a good remedy for acid reflux. Drinking enough of water helps to dilute nasty stomach acid.

Saliva 

Our own saliva can end an acid reflux attack. The best way to create more saliva is to chew gum or suck on a mint or a piece of candy.

Fresh Apples for heartburn 

The red apple is a weapon against acid reflux. Apples contain pectin which works to bind any excess acid that gathers in the stomach. Just eating one slice of an apple before going to bed relieves the symptoms of acidity in some individuals.

Ginger Tea

 Fresh ginger root in boiling water and steeping for about 10 min and then drinking it helps a lot.

Aloe Vera juice

Drinking Aloe Vera juice approximately 20 minutes before having your meals helps a lot in reducing the heart burns to a large extent.

Fennel Seeds

It is an aromatic and powerful herb that helps in digestion. Its seeds contain anethole, which is known to suppress gastrointestinal spasms. Chewing half teaspoon of Fennel seeds after meals help. It can also be taken in the form of tea.

Try raw potato juice

Simply wash the potato and push it through the juicer. Mix the juice with the equal amount of water. Drink it 3 times a day to get a release from heart burn.

Walk regularly

Avoid running and weight lifting as these activities put pressure on the stomach. Do not exercise after eating.

Chamomile tea

Drinking Chamomile tea can also have a soothing effect in terms of reducing your heart burns appreciable to give you very good relief.

Almonds for heartburn

Chewing almonds is another great way to eliminate the effect of acid reflux. Almonds will help give you relief from heart burns.          

Apple Cider Vinegar

It is an amazing remedy for acid reflux. Adding 1 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar to a half glass of water and sipping the water while eating dinner helps a lot.             

Baking Soda

Just adding a teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of water can help to calm acid reflux symptoms. But use it occasionally as regular consumption of baking soda may lead to weak bones.

Mustard

Some people find relief in taking 2 teaspoons of yellow mustard. It may burn initially for 2-3 minutes but later gives relief from heart burn.

Take probiotic supplements

Probiotic supplements help correct bacterial flora in the gut and improve pH balance.
